Merrick Pet Care, Inc. of Armadillo Texas has announced a recall of its products following a inspection report.
Merrick Pet Care has made the decision to recall the Doggie Wishbone pet treats in the abundance of caution. Only one lot of Merrick Pet Care's "Doggie Wishbone" dog treats – 248 cases – have been recalled due to Salmonella contamination. The dangerous bacteria were detected during a routine FDA inspection. No other Merrick Pet Care products are included in the recall.
People handling the treats can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the chews or any surfaces exposed to these products.
The salmonella was discovered during a routine sampling according to Merrick Pet Care Inc, and at this point the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not received any reports of dogs being affected or of any consumer complaints.

Pet care may mean more than anything for many pet owners but there are ways in which they can help protect the Earth without compromising on pet care. Pet care often involves cleaning up a mess and certain basic items can help pet owners take care of the house, pets and the Earth as well.
To tackle stink and all lingering odors pet owners can make use of baking soda. This baking soda will help soak up the smell and vacuum cleaning after sprinkling it will definitely remove all odors. Another Earth friendly pet care alternative is vinegar which acts as a deodorizer which is both a solvent and an anti-bacterial. It can be used to clean up small accident wounds by using a mix of white vinegar and warm water. It can also be used to clean litter boxes.
Other options for pet care which are Earth friendly are salt, club soda, lemon juice, and cream of tartar. All of these can be used for cleaning stains and the paste of lemon juice and cream of tartar can be used for the best cleaning.
